Rob & Miss Jane, Clowns
Rob Lok, a clown from Chinatown New York City, met Ievgeniia Pokrovska Lok (aka Miss Jane), a belly dancer from Ukraine, when they shared a stage at the World Expo in Yeosu, South Korea in 2012. They fell in love, got engaged in Russia and married in St. Petersburg, FLORIDA! They realized they could create a dynamic duo together by combining the grace and beauty of Miss Jane’s dancing with Rob’s balancing skills. Throw in a healthy dose of rapid-fire physical comedy and you have a winning combination that excites audiences around the world.
In addition to being the first Chinese-American graduate of the acclaimed Ringling Bros. and Barnum & Bailey Clown College, Rob was also the first Chinese-American clown to perform in Russia at the 2013 Yekaterinburg International Clown Festival. He has appeared in numerous TV shows, including The Today Show, The Letterman Show and Steve Harvey’s Big Time and was the subject of a documentary produced by Voice of America for distribution in China.
Miss Jane is a recently naturalized American citizen after immigrating to the United States to work with her husband in 2013. She is an award-winning dancer, teacher and choreographer of belly dance. Having a dance background, she has always been comfortable in front of an audience, but learning the tricks of the clown trade has been a completely different experience. As she puts it, “Making people smile and laugh is a skill that takes years of practice and I’m happy that I get to travel around the globe with someone I love putting that practice to the test! We like to call ourselves a balancing act. We balance on stilts, we balance on bottles AND we balance our marriage!” Miss Jane is considered to be one of the premier glass bottle walking artists that perform the act professionally around the world today.
